Icon of the American Frontier
A neglected windmill in Callahan County near Scranton, Texas. A century ago these wind-operated water pumps were common on many farms and ranches in the United States. Except in the most remote areas, windmills have been replaced by electricity. Today, if you find one that still turns, its parts clang, creak, squeal and squeak due to long-ago-terminated maintenance. Shot with an Olympus E-M1 and Zuiko 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6. Raw conversion in Phase One Capture One Pro 8 via Lightroom 5.7. Post processing in Photoshop CC 2014, Alien Skin Exposure 7 and onOne Perfect Effects 9 Suite.
