A Bit of New with the Old
Stylized texture rendering of the west-side view of the Old Main building, the oldest structure on the campus of Texas State University in San Marcos. The architecture style is Victorian Gothic. The building opened for classes in 1903. Today it houses the College of Fine Arts and Communication and the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. The new is the sculpture, dedicated April 25, 2013, by Clete Shields called Vaqueo - Genesis of the Texas Cowboy. It was a gift to the university by Billy & Sally Wittliff "in celebration of the rich and enduring heritage we share with Mexico." Communication Week Panel Members
The final day of Communication week featured a full day of broadcasting professionals as a lead up to The KTSW - KAT Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony on the Texas State University campus, San Marcos, Texas the following day. Here retired broadcast faculty member Bob Shrader and instructor Larry Carson are joined by two of their former students: Christopher Sommer (back) and Mike Kickirillo. Chris, Mike and Bob were all named to the Hall of Fame, but Mike, who is Senior Director of Broadcasting for the San Antonio Spurs, had to miss the Saturday ceremony dues to a game broadcast commitment in Seattle. The four men were all featured on a "looking back" panel.
