Museum Sign
The exterior sign for the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Texas. This extraordinary facility documents not only the events of World War II in the Pacific theatre but the historical background framing this time of both glory and shame. The National Museum of the Pacific War grew from the small Nimitz Museum, honoring Fredericksburg's native son, Admiral Chester Nimitz, who commanded American naval forces in the Pacific during World War II. In my belief creative photography only begins with the camera, and amateur photographers can learn from one another and should share information: Shot with an Olympus E-M1 and M.Zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO; raw conversion in PictureCode Photo Ninja 1.2.5 via Lightroom CC 2015; post processing in Photoshop CC 2015 and on1 Perfect Effects Suite 9.5.

Reflections on the Past
LIghting reflections on part of a traveling exihibit -- "Bob Hope: An American Treasure" -- at the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Texas. Beginning in World War II, Hope entertained Ameican troops stationed overseas and here at home for more than 50 years. He also supported preservation efforts of the Nimitz Hotel and the Chester Nimitz Museum, forerunner of the National Museum of the Pacific War. In my belief creative photography only begins with the camera, and amateur photographers can learn from one another and should share information: Shot with an Olympus E-M1 and M.Zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO; raw conversion in DxO Optics Pro 10.4 via LIghtroom CC 2015; post processing in Photoshop CC 2015 and Topaz Adjust 5. Shooting here was challenging. This display was in a narrow hallway with uneven lighting and horrible reflections. Moving slightly to the side, creating an acute angle with the display, reduced the glare. However, that created a keystone problem. Processing in DxO Optics Pro allowed use of DxO's excellent lens correction program ViewPoint 2 from within the raw converter. Back in Lightroom for cropping with the image plaque set left of center for greater interest, balanced by the two small images on the side. Lightroom's radial filter was applied to soften the focus of the secondary material. Lightroom's radial filter was then used to darken the upper portion of the plaque which was closest to the overhead lights. Photoshop, set to Smart Object, was used to host Topaz Adjust for color intensification and reduction of light reflection. The two-color border with selection of colors in the image was applied in Adjust. In Photoshop, a brightness adjustment layer was added for additional reduction of glare in the top portion of the frame. Finally, the copyright watermark was added with a Photoshop action.
