Four Generations of Ledbetters
This picture of four generations of members of the Ledbetter family was taken in front of the house on what came to be called Four Oaks, located about 2-1/2 miles west of Scranton on FM 1864. l-r James Franklin Ledbetter, Nevada Elizabeth Ledbetter, Porter Ledbetter, Pete Andrews, Gladys Andrews, Minnie Hembreee Ledbetter, Caroline Hembree, and James Hembree. James Franklin and his wife Nevada Elizabeth were early Scranton settlers. Their son, Porter married Minnie, the daughter of the Hembrees shown here on the right, early settlers in the Cottonwood community, a few miles southwest of Scranton. Gladys was the daughter of Porter and Minnie. Pete, who as an adult served as the Jones County Judge, was the son of Gladys and her husband Henry Andrews.

Thirteen descendents of Joseph Jackson Ray and Sarah Frances Morgan Ray were present for the May 3, 2014 dedication of the historical marker for the Scranton Cemetery in Scranton, Eastland County, Texas.
